...And now back to Make It Happen. We hope everyone’s holiday was filled with overeating.
When we left off we were in New York, but we hadn’t told you how we got there. So let us tell you all about our brief experience in Philadelphia which is where we headed after D.C… to West Philly to be exact, to meet up with Scott Beibin of the Lost Film Festival.
Lost Film Fest is a traveling multimedia extravaganza focused on Pranking Corporations, Activism, Culture Jamming, and Social Commentary.
Scott Beibin is a D.I.Y. extraordinaire of sorts. In his life and travels he’s been an activist, run a record label, made ‘zines, traveled the world with his festival, and right now in addition to Lost Film Fest he also co-runs Evil Twin Booking Agency with his partner Liz. They book events for people like the Yes Men, the creators of The Corporation, former members of the Weather Underground, and even musical acts like Dead Prez. And that’s not all… he also markets organic and natural foods companies like Steaz Energy Drinks and Raw Revolution. Scott’s quite the busy guy.
We met up with him at his house in West Philly, which was a little overwhelming for us. Scott resides in a fairly large, historic feeling house that’s overflowing with strange knick-knacks and memorabilia that he’s accumulated over the years. The place radiates with memories. Apparently it was the spot to crash for traveling bands in the nineties and has also been a hub for Scott’s activism and his many projects. There was so much to look at that we never quite got our bearings… or even remembered to take out our cameras…
From Scott’s house we headed over to Evil Twin to pick up Liz...
...and then to the Bubble Lounge for a special Lost Film Fest performance set up just for us.
We hadn’t seen the show before so we weren’t quite sure what to expect… and even now we aren’t quite sure how to describe it. Scott hosts the night cracking in with jokes and commentary between short films that range from mock conspiracy theories to transgender comedies. If the show rolls through your town, you’ve got to check it out.
The next night Scott and Liz set up another show for us at The Change You Want to See Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn... so we headed up to NYC for a second mind-boggling round of Lost Film Fest. The Gallery was pretty packed out and we were happy that so many people turned out for the show. We met a lot of cool people and had a great time.
The kids who owned the Gallery even offered to let us crash there for the night, but we needed to check in with Abby’s old roommate Meredith in Queens, so we parted ways with Scott and Liz… and headed into the wilds of New York City. For now we offer a sincere thank you to Scott and Liz for their enthusiasm about our project.

Stay tuned for updates from NYC, a new vlog coming soon, and round two with Scott and Liz on the way back to Louisiana for Thanksgiving.

We’re Currently on Current TV
No we don’t work for them anymore. Lets just say Current isn't necessarily known for being Current... if you know what we’re saying. So this week is our long overdue flooding of the Current TV network. That’s right, we’ve got another Pod on air.
If you want more info about this pod, check out our post from June called Displace Us.
It's now called Displaced Role-Playing. We called it Displace Me, cause like, that was the name of the event… we didn’t notice any LARPing… But hey, at least it’s on the air, seven months later… now if only they’ll send us our check.
We’re very excited and slightly embarrassed that this pod is on the air. Embarrassed because we’re in it and we look silly, but excited because the event was for an important cause. Namely raising awareness about the horrible situation in Uganda and bringing people together to help end it. We love the Invisible Children organization, and we’re happy to contribute to the cause.
Thanks to the Invisible Children movement for having us, throwing the event, hooking us up with the extra footage, and being rad people in general. Special thanks to Kenny Laubbacher and Susan Shrinkle. And thanks to the same Current TV team that helped get this thing through their very congested pipeline.

Sisterz of the Underground Update
Our Sisterz of the Underground piece hit the airwaves on Current TV today.
For those of you who've been with us since the beginning, you might remember that we produced this piece in May... when we had just started the TeamJaded project and had recently left our jobs at Al Gore's TV network.
We're really happy that the Sisterz piece is finally on the air. While it is not technically part of Make It Happen, the Sisterz were definitely an inspiration to us. In fact, this piece functioned very much as a pilot for the Make It Happen Project.
Thanks to all the ladies who are part of SOTU, specifically Sarah Smalls, Traci P., and Crykit.
Also thanks to Mark Rinehart, Erik Nordby, Phil Stuart, and Mark Behm; the Current TV team that helped get it to air.

Through the Looking Glass (MIH 25)

How's it going y'all? Are you as overwhelmed as we are? We've been in NYC for over a week, and we still haven't posted the Philly Blog. Trust us, we've got a lot to tell you, but NYC has been a blur of schleping our gear across the city with some Guitar Hero action spliced in there for good measure. We cannot get that Kansas song out of our heads. But anyway...
We've been on the road for 2 months (you can see everywhere we've been here). We know, we can't believe it either. It's also hard to believe we've gone this far with so little cash. We absolutely couldn't have done this without the help of our friends and contributors. If you'd like to contribute cash to our cause click below:
It's paypal, it's easy... and we'd be very appreciative!
We've seen so much, done so much, we're not even sure how to digest it all. But we know we'll have sometime to figure it all out over the holidays. That's right, it's Friday, November 16th, and next Thursday is Thanksgiving. We've noticed that our hits drop significantly on the weekends, (I guess we're a good distraction for y'all at work and school) and we're betting that our hits are gonna slow down just a tad over the Thanksgiving week. So instead of busting out with a new vlog and more juicy travel updates, we thought we'd hit y'all with a little video retrospective of our trip so far. Vlogs 1 thru 5. Make It Happen 1 to Austin Craft Mafia.
Enjoy... we'll be back in a week or so.
Make It Happen
Vlog 1 San Francisco, CA
Vlog 2 California Coast
Vlog 3 Southwest, USA P.1
Vlog 4 Southwest, USA P.2
Vlog 5 Austin, TX Vol. 1
Stay Tuned...

Livin' La Vida Lowlife (MIH 24)

Lowcard Mag in S.F. was the first story we shot for Make It Happen. Yeah, yeah, we know it's lacking a vlog, but we're hoping to remedy that situation sooner than later. The Lowcard Story is essential to our long term goals for the Make It Happen doc. (We even have clips from the shoot in our first video... that's Lowcard Rob twirling his skateboard.) With that said, the cool folks over at Lowcardmag.com gave us a shout out in their news section a couple of days ago and we wanted to return the love.
On Wednesday, November 21st... that's right the day before Thanksgiving... at Mars Bar in San Fran, Lowcard is throwing a release party for Issue #20. Oh yeah, the mystery cover will be revealed. 9PM, 7th and Brannan. If you're in the Bay you better be there. ..."GET HUNG OVER FOR THE HOLIDAY."

The Swarm (MIH 23)
We hope you liked the Austin Craft Mafia Vlog, we spent most of our time in D.C. cutting it. The rest of the time we ate tons of food and saw the sites.
There were gnats everywhere….
Thanks to Abby’s sister Heather and her boyfriend Kennie for their hospitality, all the food, and the tour around the city.
If you were still wondering about D.C.’s bizarre name like we were… we finally got to the bottom of it. Because D.C. isn’t part of state, what is meant by the “District of Columbia,” is the “District of America.” Columbia is just a way to say America “poetically” referencing Columbus. …ummm yeah.
...In other happenings, from here on out we're going to post events put on by our friends and comrades out there Making It Happen.
So if you’re in the Bay in the next few weeks check out any and all of the following events, cause it’s going off in the Yay Area.
Our friends at Roughneck Hardware getting ready for Bart Tour again. November 25, be there... if it’s anything like the last couple of years, it’s gonna be epic.
And speaking of Roughneck, check out this vid from the Decade of Aggression Tour.
Also Sisterz of the Underground have a couple of events coming up and we love the Sisterz so check them out....

Expect more updates about events and happenings that we think are cool.
And stay tuned we're back on the road.

Midnight on I-95 (MIH 21)

So last time, we told you that we’re in D.C. We’d planned to shoot a story here, but like a couple of other shoots along the way… schedule’s didn’t line up. And well, we’re hoping to come back and do the shoot in January. We’d love to tell you what it is, cause it’s not a minor one, but we don’t want to jinx it… so deal.
Now we’re here hanging with Abby’s sister Heather...
...and we’ve got two days on our hands to edit that Austin vlog and maybe, just maybe get some other footage out there… but don’t hold your breath (for that other footage) it’s getting hard to cut video on the road.
In the meantime, we had a couple of little adventures on the way to D.C. and we wanted to share them with y’all.
We left Lake Chuck Monday morning headed for New Orleans for the night, but we made a pit stop in Baton Rouge to hang out with Jeremey’s friend Jon Rogers and his girlfriend Jessica.
They’ve got their own little D.I.Y. blog/ clothing brand/ screen shop called TBC Party. (Thanks for the shoutout y'all.)
At Adam’s wedding we talked to Jon about it and he invited us over to check out their operation.
In the true D.I.Y. spirit, they’re running it out of a spare bedroom upstairs. They have all their screens and a light table set up in there. And they wash the screens in the bathtub. Pretty rad, especially since Jon started it just cause he thought B.R. needed a brand that he could be more psyched on. TBC Party is pretty cool so go check out their blog. Who knows, we might even upload some footage of Jon screening one of those t-shirts…
In New Orleans we stayed with Jeremey’s mom who was there on business. We had dinner with his family, and then went to Café DuMond for dessert.
In the morning we headed for Savannah, GA just cause we wanted to.
On Halloween we woke up in Savannah and headed downtown to check out all the parks.
We had some rad crab cakes at the Cornerstone Café.
Then we saw a rattlesnake along the river.
Yeah that’s right there was a wild rattlesnake loose in Savannah!
Luckily this dude was there to wrangle it…
Or just knock it back in the river.
Abby was so psyched on it that she sat down and made some “business calls.”
After the snake-fest we headed to the Savannah Cemetery.
We were hoping to see some zombies or something, but no such luck.
We couldn’t find the Garden of Good and Evil, but we did buy the book on CD. That broke our month long, “only Wu-Tang Clan” policy. Actually that’s not true, we broke our policy the night before and listened to talk radio… big mistake.
From Savannah we headed to Washington D.C., with it’s mind-boggling name. What exactly do they mean “District of Columbia”? Some how we both missed that class in high school. We just don’t get it… Is it the Washington District… of someplace called Columbia? I think Iran Contra has something to do with this, or possibly just Nintendo Contra… If you know, let us know.
Stay tuned.

Wedding Season… Over (MIH 20)
It’s been a minute since we last updated; and the hope was that we’d have a video for you today. But this last week in Lake Charles was a whirlwind of stressful (yet fun) chaos. We thought it was going to be a nice relaxing break from the road. We were wrong. Here are some highlights:
A trip to Washington Mutual…in Houston (which is over two hours from Lake Charles). Turns out there are zero Wamu’s in Louisiana. So 5 hours later we had finally deposited a check (that was over 6 weeks late to us… thanks Current TV).
Turns out Jeremey has enough family and extended family to fill every single day with traveling, eating tons of food, and LOTS of explaining exactly what it is that we’re doing. We guess there are worse problems to have. The food was amazing and everybody was pretty supportive. We just wish we could have seen all the people we wanted to.
Weddings, weddings, weddings. The week started with Dan and Jordan...
...and ended with Adam and Rachael.
Both weddings were a blast, especially since so many people came to town for them.
Adam and Rachael live in Austin, and it seemed like the entire population of Austin came down for their wedding. We have to say that it was probably the best wedding ever. The ceremony was in a field on the Collins Compound, which is a piece of property south of Lake Charles, were the O.G. skate family, the Collins’ have their residence.
Bryant Collins presided over the wedding and he got ordained on the internet to make it happen.
Adam, you couldn’t have picked a better guy to perform the ceremony. The reception was in a big Gazebo/ Barn area that the Collins use to entertain people who venture out to their property for trail rides. It’s equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and more importantly a stage. We’ve never been to a wedding with such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, and where everyone was so genuinely excited for the couple.
Congrats Adam and Rachael. Good job Collins’. Oh and the gumbo was rocking.
The night before the wedding, Brenda and Clayton of Ripperz Skatepark hosted a late night jam for all the guys in town for the wedding. A pretty epic session went down, and Jeremey even skated the mini upstairs with his homie Cronan.
Since Lake Chuck is now the happening town that it is, the Ripperz Jam, which at one time would have been the only thing going off in town… was not. Simultaneous to the skate jam was the Poor Pony event that we shouted out a couple blogs ago. Poor Pony is a non-profit in Lake Charles dedicated to making it happen, entertainment wise, in the Lake Area. That night they shut down the downtown area for a pre-Halloween pub crawl… with choreographed Thriller Dancing in the street.
(Thriller practice from Poor Pony dot com)
We didn’t snap any photos, but we did shoot footage. So stay tuned for that… and hopefully a full-fledged Make It Happen with the Poor Pony kids when we come back through for the holidays.
So as you can see, Lake Charles was pretty busy, but lots of fun… Now we’re in Washington D.C. We’ll tell you how we got here in the next round. We’ve just got to space out the blog info ha ha.
Oh yeah and we gotta shout out Mike Morimoto for hooking us up with some gas cards. Thanks mang. You're awesome.
Stay tuned...
